With more than 30 years of experience from the transportation sector, Mr. Holmström will lead VREF to further developing its activities in sustainable transport for equitable access in cities. He has held many positions at the Volvo Group, including Chief Technology Officer of the Volvo Group and Executive Vice President of Group Trucks Technology (2014-2016), also serving as its Member of the Volvo Group Executive Board. He has served as a member of the Supervisory Board of Deutz AG and is currently Vice Chair of the Board of Chalmers University of Technology. Mr. Holmström holds an M. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.

During his years as Chair of the VREF Board, Mr. Brännström has lead VREF to a bold initiative in urban freight, extended the Center of Excellence on Bus Rapid Transit, and broadened the scope of VREF supported research on governance and leadership in urban transport. He has also emphasized the outreach and implementation of research results, with new communication products such as the VREF Research Synthesis Reports.

We would like to congratulate Torbjörn Holmström to his new appointment and thank Anders Brännström for his excellent leadership during the past seven years!
