INVITATION TO APPLY FOR MAC MOBILITY GRANTS 2020

VREF will respect existing rules and regulations regarding travel restrictions (particularly regarding international travel) due to the current COVID19 pandemic.
Based on these restrictions, VREF will reserve its right to approve travel applications during the pandemic. In 2020, and with reference to current international travel restrictions, VREF is willing to waive the requirement that mobility grants will only be awarded for visits to universities in countries outside the country in which the applicant is based.
VREF will thus consider applications for mobility grants to visit other universities *within the same country* in which the applicant is based.
The VREF invites junior and senior researchers, Ph.D. students and advanced (last year) master students who are based at SSA universities to apply for mobility grants for 2-4 weeks visits at universities in other SSA countries. The invitation is open until January 31, 2020 and visits should be carried out before February 28, 2021.
Researchers and students within the following groups are qualified to apply:
The VREF wishes to have a broad distribution of grants between universities, thus in 2020 a maximum of two grants will be awarded to the same home university (that is, the university at which the researcher or student is based). You will find the guidelines for application attached to this mail.Finally, due to the COVID19 epidemic, we would like to mention that VREF will respect current restrictions and rules with regard to travel and reserve its right to approve applications during this period. VREF foresees that its funding of MAC mobility grants will continue in 2021.
The invitation to apply for a MAC Mobility Grant is open until October 31, 2020 and visits should be carried out before December 31, 2020. During 2020, the VREF Secretariat will handle applications at three occasions with the following closing dates: May 15, August 15 and October 31. All applicants will be informed of VREF’s decision within two weeks after each closing date.

The VREF invites universities located in Sweden to nominate candidates for The Håkan Frisinger Award (Håkan Frisingers pris till framstående transportforskare) and apply for a VREF Visiting Researcher Grant for the nominated candidate.

The VREF invites PhD students and advanced master students from Sub-Saharan African (SSA) universities to apply for a Mobility Grant (MG) to support a visit to another SSA university with up to SEK 25 000.
The VREF invites PhD students and researchers in early stages of their career to apply for a Study Visit Grant to be supported with up to SEK 30 000.
Lee Schipper Memorial Scholarships for Sustainable Transport and Energy Efficiency targets supporting the momentum of Lee Schipper’s contribution to the international policy dialogue in these fields.
